Our most awarded wine, Castillo Ygay, has once again achieved perfection in the eyes of the critics, this time receiving the highest score from the Guía Peñín.
After evaluating over 9,800 wines, the Peñín team praised the 2012 vintage this month for its “finesse and complexity,” highlighting that Castillo Ygay is “proof that even classic wines can be reinvented on the path to excellence.”

The Guía Peñín is the most comprehensive guide to Spanish wines currently in existence. Its first edition was published in 1990 under the title Vinos y Bodegas de España, and it was led by José Peñín, who now serves as the publication’s honorary president.
These new 100 points are not the only recent triumph for this vintage. Earlier this year, the influential British magazine Decanter named it the “Best Rioja Wine,” and at the end of 2023, critic James Suckling also awarded it a perfect 100 points.
