It is only produced from selected vintages, Marqués de Murrieta Gran Reserva represents the perfect balance between classicism and modernity.

It is made with tempranillo, graciano, mazuelo  and garnacha in the ideal proportion to offer the wine the potential necessary to age more than five years between American oak barrels and bottle. 

MARQUÉS DE MURRIETA GRAN RESERVA 2014

Located in our Ygay Estate,  in Rioja Alta, whose vineyards occupy an area of 300 hectares surrounding the winery, with an altitude difference from 320 meters to 485 meters.

From September 30 to October 18, 2014

The bunches are de-stemmed and gently squeezed. The grapes ferment separately in stainless steel tanks, with temperature control. The vatting lasts 9 days during which continuous pumping-over and punching tasks are carried out, to favor the contact of the must with the skins and cause a slow and natural extraction of aromas and polyphenols. After fermentation, the solid parts of the grape are pressed in vertical presses, through a gentle and slow process that favors the extraction of color and ripe tannins that reside in the skin.

The wine is aged for 25 months in 225-litre American oak barrels.

Duck Magret baked with red wine reduction, redcurrants, raspberries and honey mustard. Red mullet in double cooking with truffle mustard and its concentrate.

Tasting note

The complex nose of this wine is defined by elegance; over a fruity bed of ripe currants and plums, we can find hints of sweet spices, dried figs, cedar, cocoa, forest floor... Fine and balanced in the mouth, its silky tannins envelop a structured wine with great liveliness that will grow in the bottle.
