GRAN VINO PAZO BARRANTES
At Pazo de Barrantes, we have pursued excellence tirelessly since 1511. It is the driving force behind our daily dedication and the result of the patience and know-how of a family and the team that stands beside it.
For years, we have enjoyed our wines at Pazo de Barrantes, the fruit of a terroir of extraordinary quality and a meticulous, balanced winemaking approach.
Our respect and deep admiration for the Albariño variety led us to take a bold path: we decided to withdraw our wines from the market for two years in order to achieve the variety’s fullest expression, through careful research and meticulous work. All of this was supported by exhaustive work in the vineyard to improve grape quality and carry out an exclusive selection.
We wanted to give them a more attentive ageing, incorporating a subtle period in acacia barrels and extending bottle maturation. Thus, the new Pazo de Barrantes was born— a project that first saw the light of day in 2019, reaffirming the winery’s commitment to the highest quality.
GRAN VINO
PAZO BARRANTES 2022
The grapes used to produce the wine come from Pazo de Barrantes estate, which spans 12 hectares divided into eight different plots located around the winery in the Salnés Valley. The estate´s soils are granitic, with sand on the surface and the average age of the vineyard is 40 years.
The harvest was carried out in 20 kg crates from September 9 to 19, 2022.
After an exhaustive selection, the grapes are destemmed and pressed gently and slowly in a pneumatic press. The must is clarificated by flotation to ensure greater aromatic purity and then fermented at 10°C in stainless steel tanks for approximately 43 days. After fermentation, it remains 4 months with the fine lees in the stainless-steel tank.
8 months in stainless steel tanks and approximately 15% in 225 l acacia wood barrels.

Tasting note
Pazo Barrantes 2022 reveals an exuberant, ripe Albariño profile. Its complex nose blends aromas of mango, apricot, and blossoming trees with iodized hints over an elegant herbal background of eucalyptus. On the palate, it is crisp and vibrant, with refreshing acidity leading to a persistent, saline finish.
