Marqués de Murrieta, a pioneering Rioja winery founded in 1852, has welcomed the new Formula 1 single-seater with which Audi will make its debut in the sport’s premier competition in 2026.
The Audi R26 marks a new chapter for Audi in top-tier motorsport, alongside the launch of its own factory team project for this season.
The choice of the Rioja estate for this exclusive presentation in Spain is no coincidence. Marqués de Murrieta is one of the most prestigious family-owned wine groups in the world, and its connection to elite sport is already well established.
The Audi R26 was brought to Spain under strict security measures for this exclusive unveiling.
This is a new-generation single-seater developed to compete at the highest level, with a holistic focus on aerodynamics, efficiency and performance, and with technical solutions designed entirely in-house by the German manufacturer to maximize speed and reliability on track. Since spring 2022, Audi has been developing its Formula 1 power unit in Neuburg an der Donau, the only operational base of an F1 team in Germany.
Guests were astonished as they entered the winery’s striking fermentation hall to find, at its center and surrounded by the vats where Castillo Ygay—once named the world’s best wine—is produced, the innovative single-seater on display.
Elite sport
The winery’s Alliance with sport is extensive, a world in which it shares common values: tradition, excellence and a passion for detail.
Marqués de Murrieta is present in more than 100 countries and features at the highest level of international sporting events, where tournaments themselves and the most prestigious catering partners choose its wines.
This has led the winery to be present at major occasions such as the UEFA European Championship, the Champions League and the ATP Masters 1000.
Audi’s presentation also coincides with a recent recognition from the international edition of Forbes, which has named Marqués de Murrieta the best winery in Europe in the prestigious “The World’s 50 Best Wineries” ranking.
