Marqués de Murrieta moves forward in its commitment to sustainability

As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, Marqués de Murrieta has obtained the Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection (SWfCP) certificate.

The SWfCP certificate is a recognition awarded to wineries that demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability, acting on four fundamental pillars: Environmental, Social, Economic and Governance. The main objective of the SWfCP certification is to further align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to adapt to higher standards.

Obtaining this certification underlines Marqués de Murrieta's commitment to sustainable practices and contributes to the global effort to address climate change.

Marqués de Murrieta has made a strong undertaking to respect its environment and protect its legacy for the future generations. To this end, it has progressively implemented over the years a series of measures to enhance the drive towards sustainable development at both its Rioja and Rías Baixas wineries.

Following a study on the different sources of renewable energy, the solar option was chosen, and in Logroño on January 2020, the Marqués de Murrieta solar power plant was installed. This is set to double in size and will have the capacity to provide 50% of its energy needs using only renewable energy sources.
