Castillo Ygay, chosen as Best Gran Reserva in the World

Falstaff magazine, one of the most prestigious publications in the world of wine and cuisine, has published their much-anticipated ratings, having given 100 points to four Castillo Ygay vintages, from the winery Marqués de Murrieta. These vintages include the recently launched Castillo Ygay 2010.

After an historic vertical tasting, Falstaff critic and editor, Peter Moser, gives the highest rating, the coveted 100 points, to four of the tasted Castillo Ygay vintages: 1925, 1934, 1986 and 2010. Something unique which positions this wine as the best Gran Reserva in the World and one of the best wines in history.

The first winery of the Rioja region, known as one of the best wineries in the world, shows that the highest quality is only achieved through effort and passion. In 2020, it repeats the achievement of rising up with the highest rating of international critiques, positioning a Spanish wine as a benchmark of quality around the world.  The recently presented wine, Castillo Ygay 2010, has begun making history even before its arrival on the market with big international critiques and in the words of Peter Moser himself, “it is without a doubt, one of the best Ygays”.

After spending 24 months in American oak barrels and being perfected in the bottle for 5 more years, in January 2020, Castillo Ygay 2010 was born, and receives this rating as a crowning jewel of the very high ratings already given by big national and international critics such as Robert Parker and James Suckling with 97 and 99 points respectively.

Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, subtle shine on the edges. Fine mint, black cherries, fine herbs, fresh cherries, minerals and a multifaceted young bouquet.
